The Leafy Veg.’s have started coming in for fall.  The Chard, Kales, Collards and lettuces all look good.  Tomatoes from Lady Moon Farms are in, along with new Yukon Gold Potatoes(COF). 

With a Holiday weekend coming up, check out the Cantaloupes and Honeydew’s for a great hot weather snack.  Speaking of the Labor Day weekend, we will be CLOSED SUNDAY SEPT.  5 th.  We hope all of you enjoy the holiday, and we will reopen on Sept. 8th. 

Remember to let us know if you are interested in attending the “How to make a Solar Cooker” class on Sept. 12 th.  These are a lot of fun to make and are really easy to use.  Perfect for camping or just a day outing.  Use recipes from slow cookers or crock pot or adapt your own.  Sept. 12 at 4:30 pm.

After that, our next class is on Sept. 26th  at 4:30 where we will talk about ways to make water safe to drink in emergency situations, including using a solar cooker for pasteurization and other methods.  Also we will be looking at which methods are good for what water problems or concerns and how to use them.  Please call to reserve a spot as seating is limited.

Our next class will be Sept. 12th.  This will be on how to make a solar cooker.  We will look at several types and the advantages of each.  I have really enjoyed making and using them over the years and they are an easy way to inspire new ideas to share.  Recipes are easily adapted from crock pot or slow cookers and the energy is FREE.  Please call and reserve your spot for 4:30 on Sunday 9/12.

Thank You all for making our first year so wonderful and coming out to celebrate with us.  We had a great time seeing everyone and trying all the different tastings.  Special thanks to Marilyn, Ivy, Sheila, Ro and Helena for making and presenting such good food!  And an extra special thanks to Melissa and The Present Moment Cafe for their goodies.  (For those of you who just didn’t get enough of their goodies we have a few still in stock, but get here early or they will be gone!)

This Sunday the 22nd, remember we have our next Sprouting Class.  Ravi will cover the basic techniques of Sprouting in Jars, Trays, and Soil.  If you would like to attend, be sure to let me know so we can save you a spot.  This Sunday, 4:30 pm at the store.

After we learn to build a cooker, we will have a class Sept. 26th on ways to use them to make safe drinking water.  Safety measures and methods of treatment will be presented.  4:30 pm at the store.  As with all of our classes, please let us know you will be attending so we can have enough seats as the space is limited.

With Planting just around the corner, don’t forget to re-mineralize your soil as you prepare the garden beds.  We are now  a distributor and prices have come way down on Azomite!  Just $45 a bag for up to 5 bags and lower prices for larger quantities.

We have also expanded our stock of Hydroponic supplies including rock wool growing media and drip irrigation supplies.  In addition, we carry Organic nutrient solutions from Botanicare, water pH tests  and correction liquids.
